About

LVCK is a New York-based design studio at the forefront of digital/physical signage and other aspects of environmental design. Each partner is hands-on in designing, managing and implementing every sector of environmental graphics and signage. Many of our signage systems are in place even decades later.

 
 

Laura Varacchi

Laura Varacchi is co-founder and Creative Strategist of environmental graphic design firm LVCK, which became a Beyer Blinder Belle studio in 2023. Laura has 20 years of experience as a lead designer and project manager. Her expertise covers broadcast media, print and information design, signage, and wayfinding, as well as environmental digital programs.

Her projects include a multi-platform, multi-lingual wayfinding program for NYU Langone, exterior signage for the Brooklyn Public Library system, new brand experiences for Hudson Link and the Philadelphia Passport Agency, and several public works projects in Austin, Texas.

Before founding LVCK with Chris King, Laura served for nine years as a creative director at Two Twelve, New York. Her work for the Empire State Building at Two Twelve was recognized by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

In addition to designing and implementing projects alongside her partner Chris King, Laura manages LVCK—A Beyer Blinder Studio. She received her BFA in communication design with a concentration in industrial design at Carnegie Mellon University and received a Masters in Design from Domus Academy in Milan.

 
 

Christopher King

Christopher King is co-founder and Creative Director of environmental graphic design firm LVCK, which became a Beyer Blinder Belle studio in 2023. Chris has 20 years of experience as a graphic designer and project manager.

His expertise covers print design, exhibition design, signage programs, branding, and website design. Projects include a new brand identity for Sabal (a 30-year-old Nepalese healthcare nonprofit), exterior signage for the Brooklyn Public Library system, a brand experience for Hudson Link and the Philadelphia Passport Agency, and new signage and graphics for two of Eaton Corporation’s office complexes.

Before forming LVCK with Laura Varacchi, Chris served as an independent designer for a variety of clients in publishing, the arts, technology, and industry. Chris designed exhibits for the Smithsonian, Christie’s, and others, and completed signage guidelines for Fortune 500 companies.

Upon completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University, he began a three-year apprenticeship to become a journeyman in restoration carpentry; his first assignment was the construction of the corbel-vaulted ceilings for the historic restoration of Richmond Main Street Station in Virginia.
